Obituary

Mr. Donnie Buggs was born on September 20, 1965, in Jesup, Georgia to the late William A. Buggs Sr. and Evelyn Buggs. Donnie was the seventh child out of nine children. He was educated in the Wayne County school system and graduated in the class of 1985. He was a two-star athlete, playing basketball and baseball at Wayne County High School. At Wayne County High School, Donnie excelled in the JROTC program, becoming the Squadron Commander. He received several honorary medals during his years of leadership. After he graduated, he moved to Atlanta. He continued his education at Atlanta Technical College for 2 years. He was employed as a signalman for Northfork Railroad for 33 years. After 33 diligent years at Northfork Southern Railroad, Donnie retired in 2016.

He was a member of Mt Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, Gardi GA. He dutifully served as an usher. He was also a member of the Wayne County Male Choir singing songs of Zion. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and watching the Dallas Cowboys football team. He also, enjoyed barbecuing, watching westerns and basketball, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father Bro. William A. Buggs Sr., his brother Bro. William A. Buggs Jr..

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of 6 years, Patrill Buggs, Ellenwood GA; six children, daughter Deneethia “DeeDee” Buggs, Atlanta GA, son Dontavious “Donta” Buggs, Atlanta GA, daughter Deshundra “Shun” Buggs, Ellenwood GA, son Quinton “Quint or Peewee” Passmore, Atlanta GA, daughter Laquenda “Quenda” Boyd, Ellenwood GA, step-daughter Lakethian “Keisha” Saulter, New Orleans LA; mother Evelyn Buggs, Mount Pleasant GA; three sisters Wilma (James deceased) Roberson, Brunswick GA, Muriel (Jessie) Merrell, Brunswick, GA and Carolyn Collins, Statesboro, GA; four brothers Thaddius “Leroy” Buggs, Mount Pleasant, GA, James Buggs, Brunswick, GA, Bruce (Jacqueline Buggs, Richmond Hill, Anthony (Yamiko) Buggs, Atlanta, GA; thirteen grandchildren; 2 brother-in-laws, Dewayne Radford, Atlanta GA and Willie Foster, Atlanta GA; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special friends, Rod Armstrong, Fred Wilson, Kevin Pender, Clarence Weatherspoon and Dennis Denson

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup (2524 S US Highway 341, Jesup, GA 31546) with Elder Maurice Gray officiating.  

Mr. Buggs will lie repose at Community Chapel Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time.  

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup (2524 S US Highway 341, Jesup, GA 31546).   

Mask are required for attendees.
