Mr. Bess passed away quietly after an extended illness on November 12, 2022. Mr. Bess was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Lanso Bess, Sr. and mother, Estella Glass Bess; son, Robert Bess; sisters, Vernell Jackson and Lu Jean Robinson; brothers, Lanso Bess Jr., Robert Bess, Clifford Bess, and John Edward Bess; Brother-in-Law, Charlie Jackson.

Mr. Bess leaves behind his wife: Mary Bess of Brunswick, GA; daughters: Lakedra Bess of Brunswick, GA and Lisa Woods of Saint Mary’s GA; sons: Edward Bess, Jr. (Providencia) of Jesup,
GA, Benjamin Jackson of Jesup, GA, Dontel Smith of Jesup, GA, Oscar Woods of Brunswick, GA, Manson Woods of Saint Mary’s, GA, Walter Woods of Fort Hood, TX, William Smalls of Brunswick, GA, and Marcus Smalls, Jacksonville, FL; sister- in-law: Emma Bess of Homerville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup (2524 S US Highway 341, Jesup, GA 31546) with Prophet Bobby Guyton officiating.  

Mr. Bess will lie repose at Community Chapel Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time.  

Public viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup (2524 S US Highway 341, Jesup, GA 31546).   

Mask are required for attendees.
