Ms. Lenora Ellis - Jackson

Lenora Ellis - Jackson was born on September 15th, 1953, in Jesup, GA to the late Inez Johnson Ellis and James Ellis, Sr. She grew up in Mt. Mariah AME Church but later in life joined St. John Holiness Church. She attended Northside High and graduated from Wayne County High School in 1972. She was an amazing mother and grandmother always giving and helping others.  A sweet spirit that will be missed all over Jesup and Surrounding Counties.

After graduating high school, she held various positions ending at the Georgia Dept, of Transportation as a Radio Operator, from which she retired after 23 years of faithful service. She was known as" the voice" of District - 5 for Southeast Georgia. As a result of her superb knowledge, work ethic and community service, she won the annual Commissioners Merit Award”, the highest award given by the Department of Transportation. She enjoyed walking all over town finding the best deals, talking to friends and family and most of all eating at Jones Kitchen.

Lenora passed away on May 29, 2023, at her daughter's residence. She was preceded in death by both her parents, Inez Ellis and James Ellis, Sr. Her brothers, James Ellis, Jr., Jimmy Ellis, Marvin Ellis and one sister Gloria Johnson Woodward. One grandson, Rico Levelle Rawls, Jr.

 She leaves to cherish her memory: One son and daughter -n- law Rico (Katie) Rawls of Illinois and one daughter and Son-in-law, Natalie (Cedric) McIntosh, Waycross, GA. One brother, Terry (Irene) Ellis of Savannah, GA. Two sisters, Connie Ellis of Savannah, GA, and Donna Ellis of Jesup, GA. 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that will surely miss her.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the St. John Holiness Church, (386 W. Poplar St, Jesup, GA 31545), with Minister Patricia Johnson officiating.

Ms. Ellis - Jackson will lie in repose 1- hour prior to funeral time. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup.
